Casa de Oro-Mount Helix (often written just Casa de Oro) is an unincorporated community in east San Diego County, wrapped around the intersection of Campo Road (SR-94) and Jamacha Road. It shares the 91977 zip code with parts of Spring Valley and borders La Mesa to the west and Rancho San Diego to the east. The community includes Mount Helix, a distinctive hill with the well-known illuminated cross at its summit, and residential neighborhoods that extend up the hillsides on both sides of Campo Road.
The geography is hilly. Campo Road climbs east from La Mesa, passes through Casa de Oro, and continues into Rancho San Diego and beyond toward Jamul. Jamacha Road drops south from Rancho San Diego, intersects Campo Road, and continues into Spring Valley. The residential streets wind through the hills, many with curves, grade changes, and views across east San Diego County.
Population of the Casa de Oro/Mount Helix census-designated area is around 30,000, primarily suburban residential with commercial clusters at the major intersections (Campo/Jamacha, Campo/Kempton, and along the Rancho San Diego border).
